What to Do with Your Original Legal Documents

You have finished signing your legal documents at Rignanese & Associates Law. What is next? People often ask me how to handle these critical original documents.

*Place your legal documents in a secure location (my firm holds client documents for free in a fireproof safe); the location must be somewhere the agent has access to.

*Make sure that your agent, spouse, kids and other necessary people know where and how they can find your original legal documents.

*Provide a copy of your POA and Health Care Surrogate to the agent.

*Carry my business card in your wallet (and mark it “my legal documents are here”).

*Deliver a copy of your medical documents, such as Health Care Surrogate, to your physician.
